Coventry Go Digital with Financial Assessments
As we adapt to the ever-changing landscape at present, it is increasingly important to embrace technology that supports staff working from home and encourages citizens to self-serve, acknowledging how this can benefit Adult Social Care in the longer term.
BetterCare Financial Assessment is a digital platform used by several local authorities across the country to support their citizens and staff with the financial assessments and has been essential in ensuring this process remains functional during this time.
Coventry City Council went live with BetterCare earlier this year. They chose the platform to reduce the administrative tasks associated with the financial assessment process, whilst having a long term vision of using the tool to enable the public to have greater control over their own assessment process. With the use of the BetterCare platform during the COVID-19 outbreak, Coventry has been able to continue to provide their citizens with the financial assessment support they require whilst operating a working from home policy.
Marc Greenwood, Head of Business Systems and Continuous Improvement at Coventry City Council, added:
“We have found the benefits of an online assessment very evident during this crisis. We have been taking full advantage of Looking Local’s financial assessment tool which meant we have been able to continue to deliver important services with as little disruption to our residents as possible.”
We are acutely aware of the demand that ASC staff are now under – and will continue to be going forward. To that end, we have undertaken a number of steps to enable BetterCare to be implemented entirely remotely and ‘resource lite’. We are currently looking at full implementation within 6-8 weeks from the point of initial engagement. One council that uses BetterCare went live 2 weeks ago and now 100% of their non-res caseload is being handled through this platform.
